Thimbleberry Rubus parviflorus
Native American raspberry with small, reddish orange berries that are seedy but very tasty. Young shoots are edible as well. Makes tasty jams, tastes like those raspberry candies we used to buy as kids.
Good looking, low suckering, nearly thornless shrub that reaches 2 – 5 feet tall.
Prefers damp, well drained, shady sites.
Need 20 inches or more of annual rainfall.
Native from Alaska to Michigan but seems to like growing here in Maine.
6-12″ bare root shoots.
