The Stanley Plum tree is a European plum with medium to large, oval, dark blue fruit with a thick bloom (looks like a light haze on the fruit).
Firm, tender, fine grained, yellowish green flesh with a freestone pit.
Sweet, rich flavor. Excellent for fresh eating, canning, preserves and drying.
Flesh turns purplish red when canned.
Large, vigorous, spreading tree. Early bearer. Late bloomer which is great for uncertain springs. Self-fertile, but yields more heavily when pollinated with another variety such as Mt. Royal or American Plum.
Heavy, annual producer. A standard for excellence in European plums, introduced by the Geneva Station in 1926.
