Exotica Cornelian Cherry is a new, trademarked variety that promises above average harvests of this sweet fruit.
The tiny, yellow, early flowers are beautiful and one of the first to appear on our farm.
Cornelian cherries are a small tree or large shrub that produces a fruit looking similar to coffee berries. They ripen in mid to late summer. Flavor is similar to a sour cherry and makes incredible jams, sauces and dried fruit. Named varieties have been chosen for their size and flavor.
In Eastern European countries, Cornus Mas are used for distilling vodka, Dirndlbrand, and rakia among other drinks.
Harvest at maturity ranges from 20 to 30 pounds per bush.
No known pest issues. Grows best in rich, well-drained soil. Can tolerate poor soil as long as it is well-drained.
Grows 8 to 10 feet tall and about the same width
Plant with another variety of Cornelian Cherry to ensure pollination.

We highly recommend protecting your trees with a tree tube
Growing trees in the Northeast has proved challenging. One of our main struggles has been with deer and other tree nibbling predators.
Not only were our orchard trees being nibbled and rubbed, but now the deer/rabbits/porcupines/voles and more were heading towards our nursery stock.
I guess when you set out a buffet, the animals say ‘THANKS!’
We decided to purchase a few hundred TREE PRO Miracle Tree Tubes and were quickly sold on the benefits.
Trees that seemed to be stuck in their growth were now growing. We no longer had to constantly move electric fencing. Even trees in remote areas on the farm were thriving.
Where we had ordered them last year to offer to you, Tree Pro started selling them on Amazon (of course) and they are cheaper and offer FREE Shipping. We still highly recommend them!
