Coastal Strawberry fragaria chiloensis is one of the wild ancestors of the cultivated strawberry that is evergreen that has white flowers and small, edible fruits which provide a nice ground cover within the orchard.
It is bigger than our native woodland strawberries, with larger fruits. Does not need full sunlight like cultivated strawberries. Leaves can be eaten raw or dried for a lovely tea.
Well drained soil is preferred and sandy soils are the native for this plant. Good for erosion control, ground cover and year round color.
