Silver Buffaloberry Shepherd argentea
Extremely attractive, 6-12 foot thorny shrub with silvery grey foliage. Plants are male and female, both are needed to produce fruit.
Produces oval, 1/4 inch red or orange berries that hang in clusters like currants.
Excellent for jam, jelly and sauce. Keep great flavor and color when dried. Not sweet, but very flavorful.
Excellent fruit tree guild plant and fruit tree companion.
Traditionally harvested and dried by the Plains Natives who served them with buffalo meat.
