Kieffer pears are large, long, golden yellow fruit with a crimson blush. They are crisp, juicy, coarse textured, and white fleshed with musky aroma.
This pear is excellent for canning and baking. Good variety for pear honey and preserves. Pick fruit while still hard and store in a cool place; reaches peak flavor when fruit gives slightly to the touch.
Hardy, vigorous tree bears young and has dependable crops. This is one of the most self-fruitful pears, so you don’t need more than one to get a good crop! Practically immune to blight which is really exceptional for this heirloom pear.
Pears are deciduous fruit trees that originate from Europe and Asia. Pears are medium trees that like to grow straight up, forming a pyramid shape which can be modified with good training while young.
Bees generally are not as attracted to Pear blossoms as they are to other fruit trees. The addition of early blooming flowers such as crocuses to your orchard and mason bee housing will help with pollination.
